Kwame Nsiah-Appau, known in music as Okyeame Kwame, has argued on UTV that the government should channel the energy it wants to use to fight the LGBTQ+ community into kicking away corruption from the system. He revealed that the politicians in the country are using their energy on things that would not bring value to the country. He stated that the importation of western culture is doing us more harm than good, and we are responsible for our own predicament.

“If I were in charge, I would rather focus on corruption, I would rather focus on educational reforms. The Whiteman wants to introduce something, but we don’t like it. They are the same people who introduced STEM. STEM is what has brought us here. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. This is what has brought us here today. So, if you don’t go to school to become a doctor, lawyer, or scientist, your parents feel you’re aimless, but that is not the case in Western countries,” Okyeame Kwame said.

He also laid out that, looking at the two, that’s fighting the LGBTQ+ community and fighting corruption, which one is more pressing and needs serious attention.

“They have STEM, where they take the arts seriously. We don’t take the arts seriously, which is why we are not creative. The white man has ensured this. For me, being LGBT+ is not my problem. My problem is the BJ in there. If I say I’m a member, they may come and arrest me. Between corruption and LGBT+, which one is very pressing?” the rapper said.

Ghanaians still anticipate the outcome of the bill whether the practices would be accepted in our societies or not.
